Here is some additional information from the page Horse Relatives.
There are about four types of zebras. Each have their own personality and stripe-pattern.

Plain Zebras-
Plain zebras normally live in Africa. They have large, black stripes on a white coat like all zebras, and a thin, brown strip in between the black and white. They are the size of donkeys, which are about 7-10 hands, and sometimes larger.
Plain zebras have to face many dangers, including lions, hyenas, jackals, leopards, and cheetahs, and very occasionally crocodiles. When they are just young foals, they are most vulnerable.
Some plain zebras who live near the Nile River have to cross it each year regularly to get to the grassy areas to graze. The Nile River has many crocodiles living in it, and when the crossing time comes, which is when the zebras, along with wildebeest, antelope, and other plant eaters beside the Nile River, cross the river to get to the far side, where the greener grass is located. Only the strongest and swiftest survive.
