In science classes, horses are extremely rare to be mentioned. But when you are learning about cells in fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth grade, or higher, you are taught about animal cells. Horses are animals, aren't they? So technically in your science classes you learn about horses, too.

As you can see from the picture above, cells are highly complex. Here are some definitions of the main parts of an animal cell:

Nucleus-the control center of a cell; directs the cells activities.

Cell Wall-a stiff outer layer of a cell that protects it.

Cell Membrane-protects the cell and allows nutrients and proteins in.
